What happened: Supervisors awarded $1.08 million in contracts for road construction materials.
Contract details: A $111,252 concrete contract has been awarded to JVI. A $171,475 bitumen contract was awarded to Highway Materials. Pennsy Supply was awarded two contracts – one for $404,368 for bitumen placed and one for $398,671 for stone.
Road projects: The township plans to widen and reclaim Breneman Road between Hossler and Colebrook roads; overlapping Hernley, Hamaker and Kulp roads as well as Kendig Drive; widen Wisgarver Road from Shumaker to North Colebrook Roads and widen Oak Tree Road; replace concrete pavement on Esbenshade Road from Route 283 to Route 230.
Park improvement: Rapho plans to replace approximately 10,000 square feet of playing surface at Rapho Township Community Park. To fund the project, supervisors approved a grant application for $202,871 from the Commonwealth Funding Agency’s Local Action Assessment Grants program. The program provides grants from gaming revenue collected by the state through the Race Horse Development and Gaming Act.
Rezoning request: Supervisors have acknowledged receipt of a rezoning request from Core5 Industrial Partners LLC for 43.8 acres of land at 1295 E. Main St., Mount Joy. The land is currently zoned agricultural, and the request is to have it rezoned industrial. Core5 would like to build two warehouses, each over 200,000 square feet, on the property. Supervisors forwarded the rezoning application to the township planning commission and the Lancaster County Planning Commission for review. A public hearing on the application will be held at the supervisors’ meeting on May 5.
